Getting Around Menorca Without a Car: How to Explore from Mahón

Getting Around Menorca Without a Car: How to Explore from Mahón

Discover how to explore Menorca without a car, starting from Mahón.

Discover how to enjoy Menorca without renting a car, taking advantage of walking routes, public transport, and other options directly from the island’s capital.

If you're planning a trip to Menorca and prefer not to rent a car, you're in luck. The island offers several convenient ways to get around without your own vehicle, especially if you're staying in Mahón. Its central location, compact size, and well-connected public transport system make it easy—and enjoyable—to explore Menorca without driving.

Public Transport: Buses from Mahón

The Mahón Bus Station, located just a short walk from the city centre and harbour, connects you to all corners of the island:

To Ciutadella (Line 1), ideal for visiting Menorca’s second city

To southern beaches such as Binibeca, Punta Prima and Son Bou

To Fornells and the northern coast, with frequent summer service

During the high season, bus schedules are more frequent and extended.

Bike Rentals and Cycling Routes from Mahón

Mahón is a great base for exploring the island by bike.

Our establishment is a pick-up and drop-off point for Velos Joan, a bike rental company in Menorca.

Popular cycling routes include:

The Camí de Cavalls, the historic coastal path that circles the island

Short rides to Es Castell, Binibeca Vell or nearby coves

Many local businesses—especially around the port—offer regular and electric bike rentals.

Scooter Rentals: The Freedom of Two Wheels

Another great alternative to renting a car is hiring a scooter. From Mahón, you can easily reach beaches, coves and inland villages while avoiding parking issues and traffic.
There are multiple rental shops near Royal Life with options from 50cc scooters to higher-powered bikes.

Taxis and Private Transfers

If comfort is your priority, taxis are readily available in Mahón, and private transfers can be booked in advance for airport pick-up or trips to other areas of the island.

Explore on Foot from Royal Life

Staying at Royal Life means you can walk to many key attractions in Mahón, including:

The historic city centre

Local markets and shops

Seaside restaurants and cafés

The Museum of Menorca

You can also start your day with our breakfast buffet, open to both guests and the public.
